Summer Camp
Join us for Meadowlark Summer Camp!
Meadowlark Summer Camp nurtures children’s inherent connection to the natural world and each other through creative work and imaginative play. Each day is carried by a gentle rhythm - allowing for a balance of focused work, exploration, group games, and free play. All camps include woodworking, fort building and creative projects.
june 8-12: Gnomes and fairies
Magical forest creatures are all around us. We will look for them in the gardens and trees, hear their legends and make maps of where the gnomes and fairies reside. Each camper will design and create their own multi-level gnome or fairy house and furniture from natural materials - including the stones, moss and sticks we collect during nature exploration walks. Children will also create their own gnomes and fairies from beeswax, wood and felt. Even if your child has attended this camp in years past, there will be new materials and structures to make and new stories about our gnome and fairy friends.
June 15-19: Birds, butterflies, and bees
We will explore the beauty and uniqueness of our pollinator friends and work with wood, paints and natural materials to create pollinator-friendly habitats, like bird houses, bee hotels and caterpillar homes. Campers will learn about the life cycle of the monarch and how they can become helpers for monarchs, protecting them and watching them grow. Children will learn to identify and collect milkweed for butterfly homes, they will raise caterpillars and bring home their beautiful creations to add to home gardens.
